OPENING USHER

 

SUNDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY

 

  • Unlock front and side doors by 8:45 a.m.
  • Turn on lights in building as needed.
  • Unlock auditorium doors.
  • Help Counting Usher with attendance count at approximately 9:20 a.m.
  • The class bell rings automatically at 9:40 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. If it does not, it must be rung from the top button above the basement hall light switch.

 

SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP SERVICES

 

  • Before worship services start, check communion and offering trays in upstairs coat closet. There should be 8 trays of each emblem and 8 collection plates and 4 plates of each emblem and 4 collection plates in the coat closet (welcome center).
  • Close the doors to the auditorium as soon as the worship service begins at 10:00 a.m.
  • Seat latecomers at appropriate intervals of the worship service.
  • Serve communion to each nursery. Count number of people in each nursery while serving.
  • Take the used communion trays to the kitchen after the counting usher and closing usher return from counting the contribution. The foyer should not be left unattended. One full tray of each emblem should be prepared for Sunday night communion.
  • Open the doors to the auditorium after the closing prayer.

 

SUNDAY EVENING WORSHIP SERVICES

 

  • Unlock front and side doors by 5:45 p.m. (or 4:45 p.m. when Life Groups are in session)
  • Turn on lights in building as needed.
  • Unlock auditorium doors.
  • Check for communion prepared in wing classroom
  • Close the doors to the auditorium as soon as the worship service begins at 6:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m.
  • Seat latecomers at appropriate intervals of the worship service.
  • Help counting usher with attendance account at approximately 6:20 p.m. or 5:20 p.m.
  • During the last song, pick up the attendance cards in the auditorium and put them in Nancy’ mailbox in the Member’s Work Area in the Wing. (Note: we are not currently doing attendance this way).
  • Open the doors to the auditorium after the closing prayer.

 

NOTES FOR ALL USHERS:

 

  • Children leaving the worship service must not be allowed to disturb worship. Ushers should check on any child that goes to the basement and does not return within a reasonable time.
  • Ushers are to greet churchgoers as they arrive at front and side doors.
  • The foyer should never be left unattended.
  • The ushers are not responsible for cleaning the communion trays after the morning services.
  • Answer telephone in foyer to give directions, leave messages for members.
