John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (ESV)
This truth is something that most every Christian has committed to memory. It’s something I point out quite a bit from the pulpit. It’s the basis for a song we teach our children… but do we remember that as much as it talks about others it also includes me?
There are times where the road gets difficult. Times where things about us change that we do not like, that we think are odd or difficult and are all together unwelcome. No matter what our age it is easy enough to feel like we don’t always fit in – but are we able to remember this verse even then?
A couple of weeks ago David Roff shared this little remix of Jesus Loves Me that has been making its way through their Sojourner’s group, and I too thought it was worth a share. You might see yourself in these lyrics or not – but let the truth ring clear. No matter who you are, no matter what you find yourself going through – always remember: Jesus loves me, this I know!
Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.
YES, JESUS LOVES ME… YES, JESUS LOVES ME…
YES, JESUS LOVES ME, FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.
Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I’ll go
On through life, let come what may,
He’ll be there to lead the way.
When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song…
Telling me in words so clear,
“Have no fear, for I am near.”
When my work on earth is done,
And life’s victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I’ll understand His love.
I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.
