Camping in the Wilderness

Camping in the Wilderness

Spring has arrived, well at least technically according to the calendar. What it really means is that winter is behind us and warmer days are ahead of us. One of the popular activities of warmer weather is camping in the woods with a group of friends, family, or through a camp. I always looked forward to camping out at Ganderbrook every summer, catching up with friends, telling stories, and learning about God. It was something that I marked on my calendar as soon as I could.

This year as spring has sprung upon us I want to give you the opportunity to mark something on your calendar. Vacation Bible School. This year we will be having VBS on June 1st from 9:30- 3:30 like last year. It will run alongside of our Kid’s Closet Program which I am praying will help both events. Please mark your calendar so you can be at these events and bring your child age birth to 12 year olds to VBS. We ask that if your child is not potty trained that you stay on the church campus to help with that.

VBS is an important part of our Youth and Family Ministry. VBS gives our students another chance to reach out to their fellow friends and invite them to a safe environment. It also gives you a chance to reach out to people in your neighborhood to invite them as well. Our goal this year is to have 50 children in attendance for VBS. We can use these connections to help build stronger bonds in the community and invite them to church and other youth program events.

Please mark your calendars and consider helping at VBS and Kid’s Closet. We will have plenty of things to do from storytelling, setting out food and snacks, talking to parents, watching over the safety of students, playing games, being a really big kid, and helping parents in Kid’s Closet set up and tear down of both VBS and Kid’s Closet and so much more! We ask you to join us in prayer for VBS, the students, and everyone involved. There is something for everyone at this year’s event. Be on the lookout for more information as well as times for preparation. I am always looking for ideas as well!

We are excited about VBS this year. There are stories to be told, games to be played, food to be eaten, relationships to build, and spiritual fires to kindle. Many stories are found in the Bible out in the wilderness from Jesus being temped after 40 days, to the Israelites wandering around for basically forever, to battles, and the Ten Commandments being given to mankind. Grab your shoes, pack your bag, grab a fishing pole and some snacks, and join us for VBS 2019 Camping in the Wilderness to see what stories we talk about!

Be Blessed,
Mark Casella
