What defines your life? Is it something that you have done in the past? Is it something you are really good at? Is it a failure? Are you defined by what someone else says? What defines you?
We live in a world that can be harsh. When we look into a mirror what do we see? Do we see our insecurities? Our weaknesses? Our Failures? Something that we did a long time ago? When the world sees this mirror it likes to point all of these things out. These things don’t define who we actually are but in the world’s eyes it’s who they think we are. The world says we are no good, failures, weak, useless, ugly, unlovable, and so many other things. Is this what defines us?
We could let these things be the definition of who we are but that isn’t how it has to be. Look at Romans 8:38-39, “For I am sure that neither death not life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This verse makes you want to yell out at the top of your lungs “Hallelujah!” God is a great God. God reminds us that these failures DO NOT define us! In fact, nothing of this earth defines us but our definition is found in Christ our Lord. None of these things will keep us from the love of God. What are you really defined by? If it isn’t Jesus, then we need to check the mirror again. When we look in that mirror we should see who Jesus has made us to be.
Jesus reminds us that we are free, forgiven, made in His image, loved, saved, fearfully and wonderfully made, and so many more things. So what really defines you? Is it what the world thinks you are or who you really are in Christ? I’m not sure who posted the original picture but I think it is an important visual for us. Remember who really defines who you are.
