Be Thankful

Pam & I have been blessed by getting to keep our grand twins for the last 2 weeks. What a special time it is. I think you savor the time more with
grandchildren because you know how quickly they grow up. At this age, everything is new and it takes so little to have a joyous good time.

There are so many spiritual applications to our time together. You enjoy other people’s children but they are not special like your own. God calls us His offspring. He loves each of us as his own creation. He desires to spend time with us and know us personally. As 1 Peter states – “He cares for you.” Just
as we find joy in learning the idiosyncrisies of Geo & Rio, like Geo likes to run a vacuum and Rio likes to play hide and seek, God delights in knowing the number of hairs on our head.

Just as any grandparent wants the best for their grandchildren, God really wants the best for us. His wisdom and knowledge of what’s best for
us isn’t always apparent to us, but God’s ways are far wiser than our shortsightedness. As Jesus said “ I have come that you might have life, and have it to the full.” or Jesus when he speaks of the Father says “if you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him”

As we come to Thanksgiving week, let us be thankful that we have a Father in Heaven that cares for us, that longs for a relationship with us, that delights in knowing everything special about us, and that really knows what is best for us and shares that knowledge with us. Let us delight in God and seek to be a delight to Him.

Be thankful in all circumstances,
